SYNOPSIS:

Meet Hailey Twitch…
She’s just like you. Well, sort of.
She loves pink sparkly pencils and ice cream. But Hailey also has a secret: she’s friends with Maybelle, a sprite that only she can see.
Hailey and Maybelle are having fun, fun, fun. But they’re also getting into lots of trouble!
Can Hailey keep her friend a secret or will she have to tell?
MY THOUGHTS:
This was such a cute read.  I can see young teens enjoying this book.  Hailey has a bad day at school when the teacher decides to pair her up with Addie who is the one kids in class who loves all the rules.  Hailey hates rules and is not looking forward to working with Addie on their school project.  When she gets home, Hailey is pouting in her room and suddenly a sprite appears named Maybelle.  Maybelle wants to have fun with Hailey since she is in trouble with the Department of Magic for breaking rules herself.
Maybelle gets Hailey in a lot of trouble, but Hailey refuses to tell anyone that it wasn’t her. So Hailey takes the punishment instead of Maybelle.  Throughout the whole story we start to realize that Addie isn’t as boring and stuck on the rules as we thought.  She turns out to be a great friend with Hailey.
Overall this would be a great and clean book for the younger teens.  The pictures through out the story were great.  The writing flowed nicely and made sense.  A cute and fun read for younger readers to enjoy!

OUTCAST
Book Two of the Guardian’s League
Author: Amelia Elias
Source: PBS
  • Paperback: 292 pages
  • Publisher: Samhain Publishing (November 21, 2006)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 1599982900
  • ISBN-13: 978-1599982908
SYNOPSIS:
In one instant, everything Renee Hardin knew was destroyed. Vampires were real, and now she had the bloodlust and fangs to prove it. Thrown into a new world, the only friend she has is Eli, a man who could’ve been drawn from her worst fears… or her darkest dreams. Mysterious and ancient, Eli is the most powerful of vampires and the most determined to rid the world of the predators that feast upon the innocent. He has spent thousands of years alone, wanting nothing, needing no one. But when a beautiful woman’s mortal life is stolen before his eyes by the very Outcasts he hunts, Eli has no choice but to pose as her Sire and take her in and try to prevent their evil from poisoning her soul. Sexual attraction between Sire and fledgling is utterly forbidden, yet every moment with Renee makes him all the more aware that he is not her Sire. Fearless, sassy, and vibrantly alive, she awakens feelings he thought long dead and buried. But how can he risk loving her when it would mean revealing the sins that caused the gods to turn their backs on him for eternity?
MY THOUGHTS:
This was a new author for me.  I am constantly looking for new authors to enjoy.  Even though this is the second book in a series, I had no problem understanding everything and everyone involved in the book.  The author did a wonderful job of writing this book to serve as a stand alone book as well.
When Renee is turned by an Outcast vampire,  Guardian Eli takes her under his wing.  Renee was a spit fire and was very strong willed.  Eli was patient and strong as well.  While he is not her true sire, he lies and tells her that he is so she has a place in the vampire world.  While sire’s and fledglings are not suppose to be romantically involved, you can see the spark of attraction from the instant they start talking to each other. The romance was steamy, the writing was great, and I definitely will be reading the rest in this series.
Overall a great book to read if you love the paranormal and steamy love scenes.  A great series that has lots of potential!

DEEPER THAN THE NIGHT
Source: Library Sale
  • Mass Market Paperback: 448 pages
  • Publisher: Love Spell (August 1996)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 050552113X
  • ISBN-13: 978-0505521132
SYNOPSIS:

The townsfolk of Moulton Bay said there was something otherworldly about Alexander Claybourne. Some people whispered that, with his dark arresting features and mesmerizing eyes, the seductive stranger looked every inch a vampire. They never guessed how near the truth they were – or that after more than two hundred years of resisting temptation, Claybourne had found a woman he had to possess.

Never one to be scared off by superstitious lore, Kara Crawford laughed at the local talk of creatures lurking in the dark. What harm could come of befriending the handsome stranger with the haunted look in his midnight eyes? No matter what shadowy secrets Alexander hid, Kara felt drawn to him, compelled to join him beneath the silver light of the moon, where they would share a love DEEPER THAN THE NIGHT.

MY THOUGHTS:

I am a huge fan of Amanda Ashley.  She writes more of the dark vampire than the sparkly vampire.  This was one of her earlier books that I somehow had missed when reading her books.  This one started out great.  I loved the first chapter. I love how Kara’s younger sister goes looking for a vampire to save her sister, even though Gail herself is very young.  That sets the book in motion.  I liked the plot and the dark brooding vampire Alexander. What I didn’t like was Kara. To me, she came across as stupid and ditzy.  I don’t know if they yanked out her brain during the coma or if she is just naturally clueless.  I will say that this book was not like most of the authors vampire books.  Even though I couldn’t stand Kara, I still enjoyed the story.
