SYNOPSIS:
Who needs a book on dating a vampire? Well, Bella Swan and Sookie Stackhouse to name just two. They are fortunate to have vampire boyfriends. But what the heroines of Twilight and True Blood don’t have and could use is some advice on getting along with them. Everything they and every other red-blooded American girl (and guy) wants to know about finding a dreamy blood-drinker and keeping him is within How to Catch and Keep a Vampire: A Step-by-Step Guide to Loving The Bad and the Beautiful. And who better to introduce mortal readers to the world of dating a 21st century vampire than a few mouth-watering immortals? The cast includes: Ethan, with his aquamarine eyes and supernaturally seductive piano playing. Mordred, classically cruel, dark, and handsome, with a thing for black leather gloves. His entrancingly cute carrot-topped friend Adam, as sweet as Mordred is scary. Gunnar, with his rich, golden hair, and dastardly but delightful knack for getting his way. The experienced and fascinating Colin, with his exquisite latte-colored skin and exotic beauty. The eccentric but gorgeous Aidan, purveyor of ancient magic. And enigmatic Conner, with his deep, dark eyes and protective soul. These undead charmers will win the hearts and minds of readers everywhere, and author Diana Laurence will be their expert guide.
MY TAKE:
Are you obsessed with finding that perfect soulmate? Are you part of the majority out there that is obsessed with the vampire world? I received this book and jumped right into reading it because I am the vampire obsessed fan. With wonderful writing and great Q&As with vampires, what more could you ask for? In this book you will get to hear the vampire side, the author side and what attracts everyone to the basis of finding love with a vampire. You will learn the meaning of the red ribbon and start scrounging through you ribbons for one to tie around your wrist. With my favorite part of the book being the pick up lines that vampires use, you will find yourself laughing and doing lots of AH-HA moments! This was a great and quick read that opened my eyes to the vampire world of dating and what one mortal can expect from immortals!

MY RATING:

Outstanding Book! A definite favorite!

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf–her wolf–is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human–or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

MY TAKE:

I almost put this book down after getting halfway through it. I had read other reviews thinking this was going to be a great, fresh and new read in the young adult genre. Notice I said almost! The first half of this book progressed rather slowly for me. It seemed to stretch on and on with no end in sight. Then about halfway through, just when I was about to stop reading it, the author picked up the pace and reeled me in all the way! It gave me the speed, love, and action that I wanted to see throughout the book. I devoured the last half of this book within an hour! I was so disappointed for Grace and Sam’s story to end. Then, I went to the author’s website and found that this is the first book in a 3 book series! YEAH! I get to see what happens after all! THEN I find out that Shiver is going to be made into a movie! Trust me, if you can get past the first half of the book, you won’t be disappointed for the last half.

I want to introduce everyone to our special guest author, Renee Carter! She is the author of the book His Eyes. Welcome to My Overstuffed Bookshelf and let’s get started!

To start off, can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

Well, I’m from Wisconsin and I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in English and Web Development. Basically, I love writing and find the internet to be an amazing place.

Can you tell us a little about your new or current releases?

His Eyes was just released at the end of August. It’s a Young Adult romance about an average girl named Amy who answers an ad to baby-sit, only to find out that the boy she’s supposed to be watching—Tristan—is her age and recently went blind. Of course, Tristan doesn’t want her help but Amy’s much too stubborn to let him get away with his bad attitude. That’s when the fun starts.

When did you start writing? How did you decide what to write?

I’ve literally been writing my entire life. My mom still has cassette tapes from when I was three, telling stories into a toy recorder. I would sit on my bedroom floor for hours, moving my dolls around as props. I can probably attribute this to a Disney childhood, but love stories were always my favorite to tell.

When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read? Do you have any favorite authors, that are must reads?

I love a good YA romantic book; I like to saying that reading them is “research.” A YA that combines romance and fantasy is usually high on my list. I think the last book that I recommended to my friends was Lament by Maggie Stiefvater.

What are 3 things that are “must haves” for you when you sit down to write a new book?

1. My laptop 2. A great song playing on repeat 3. A mental image of that first scene

What are your favorite things to do in your downtime?

I know this is probably weird, but I recently have developed this addiction to shows about cake making. I could probably watch an 8-hour marathon of Ace of Cakes and (as long as I had some to eat) I’d be golden. I’m not quite sure how this obsession came about…all I know this that there are two things my boyfriend and I watch together: sci fi series and the Food Network. Yeah, we’re cool like that.

Where can we purchase your books?

His Eyes is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Do you have a blog or website that your readers can keep up with you and your books?
