SYNOPSIS:
In James Patterson’s blockbuster series, fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride, better known as Max, knows what it’s like to soar above the world. She and all the members of the “flock”–Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel–are just like ordinary kids–only they have wings and can fly. It may seem like a dream come true to some, but their lives can morph into a living nightmare at any time…like when Angel, the youngest member of the flock, is kidnapped and taken back to the “School” where she and the others were experimented on by a crew of wack jobs. Her friends brave a journey to blazing hot Death Valley, CA, to save Angel, but soon enough, they find themselves in yet another nightmare–this one involving fighting off the half-human, half-wolf “Erasers” in New York City. Whether in the treetops of Central Park or in the bowels of the Manhattan subway system, Max and her adopted family take the ride of their lives. Along the way Max discovers from her old friend and father-figure Jeb–now her betrayed and greatest enemy–that her purpose is save the world–but can she?
MY THOUGHTS:
This is a great fast read that not only will young adults love, but so will adults.  It is fast paced with lots of action and has the paranormal angle that is popular.
I was amazed at first at how the chapters were no more than 3 pages long. Sometimes, a chapter was only one page.  It made me feel like I was flying through this book quickly.  Even though they were short chapters, they each had great story and flowed nicely.  I loved each of the characters the author introduced to me to.  They each had their own personality and purpose in the book.
The only drawback this book had was that it seemed a little repetitive in the action.  Same fight just in a different location each time seemed to be the norm.  It kept the book action packed, but at times dragged it along as well.
Overall, I look forward to reading the next book.  I have fallen in love with each of the characters and I look forward to seeing them grow and explore.

SYNOPSIS:

One of the world’s most beloved stories as it has never been told before, Unmasqued is a novel of breathtaking historical erotica.

His exquisite obsession… Christine DaaŽ heard rumors of the hideous Phantom said to haunt the great Opera House in 19th-century Paris. But its youngest and brightest star knows something no one else does-the truth. For in the darkness she thrills to the deep velvet timbre of his arousing voice, and quivers to the soft strokes of his leather-gloved fingers. He is real. Her inspiration. Her Musique d’Ange. Her liberator.
Her erotic awakening… Condemned to the catacombs below, Erik has desired his obsession from the shadows, careful to keep his identity, and his secret, in the dark. Only he understands Christine’s extraordinary talents and her beauty. Only he can pleasure her like no man has before. But his sensual power comes with a price-and a risk to everyone who stands between them. For Christine too is succumbing to her most forbidden and dangerous desires-and to the Phantom who’s making them all come true.
MY THOUGHTS:

Recently I have found myself trying to read more and more fairy tale themed books.  I was never really a big fan of The Phantom of the Opera, but it included Erotic in the title so I was all for it!

First of all, I have never read the original Phantom of the Opera. I haven’t seen the movie either. I did however sing some of the songs in my Choir days at school.  I don’t think that really helps me though.  I can say that this book does have erotic scenes that I doubt would be in the movie.  The writing was well done, yet I am still on the fence about this book.  The characters were okay, but the ending wasn’t very good.  This book would be okay if you didn’t have any other books around. Not one I would likely read again, but it wasn’t too bad.  Worth checking out at the library at least.

And what follows is a night of passion, hard-rock-style…
MY THOUGHTS:
Yes, I was on the hunt at the bookstores for some erotica’s for my reading challenge.  This one caught my eye because of the kinky cover.  I though perfect. I read the back of the book and thought this would be great for the challenge. I got home, and started reading it.
Why, oh why, did I even bother.  The stories were boring to me.  They had no spark.  Yes, it had its erotic sex scenes, but the story had no bite to it.  They stumbled along and part of the time I wondered how this book even made it to print.  I like a little plot to go with my hot sex, and the stories were so boring and dumb.
Not at all what I was hoping for, but at least I did finish it.  Not one I will be reading again.

GABE

  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0373198604
  • ISBN-13: 978-0373198603
SYNOPSIS:
Gabe Kasper, heartthrob of Buckhorn County, could have had any woman he wanted— if he’d had a mind to settle down. Which he didn’t. The freedom of being a jack-of-all-trades with no one to answer to suited him just fine. And then a prickly, uptight, red-haired college woman showed up.
Elizabeth Parks needed Gabe to complete her thesis on heroism, but he didn’t seem to think saving a couple of lives made him a hero. She was inclined to agree that he seemed like the exception to the rule. Until he rescued her heart and soul with his fearless passion.
MY THOUGHTS:
Book 3 in the Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster.
I LOVED this book! This, so far, is my favorite.  Gabe and Elizabeth’s romance was so sweet and romantic, I almost melted reading it.  Gabe is the sweet talking player of the bunch.  He doesn’t think Elizabeth is anyone he would ever see himself with though.  She is described as homely and ordinary.  Of course we should have expected it to be someone like her that would snatch this brother up.
I really enjoyed how sweet Gabe was when he was near Elizabeth. He was still playful, but he found himself falling for the ordinary girl.  This was a sweet a quick read and I was looking forward to reading this book from the beginning.  The author certainly knows how to write romance that touches your heart.
