MY THOUGHTS:

This was my first book by Cherry Adair. I had heard great things about this author, but I was disappointed in this book.

It was more about the action than the passion. I like action in my books, don’t get me wrong! But I also like a good balance between the two. I don’t want all action or all romance. It has to have both to even out. There were moments of romance and witty humor, but not enough to keep me interested in the book. It had alot of military-like scenes and it just didn’t appeal to me.

If you can handle the action themed books, with understanding of little romance, then this book would be a great read. It also has a lot of gruesome scenes, so if you are squeamish, I would hold out on this book. The ending is vague, and leaves you to believe that in order to get the full impact, you would have to read the final book in the series to get closure.

MY THOUGHTS:

When I saw this book, I was interested mainly because of the cover. I love cover art! This wasn’t a horrible book, but it wasn’t a great book either. It gave new twists to the vampire myths, but the storyline was lacking a lot of depth. It didn’t capture my interest, but I knew I wanted to finish reading it because I had gotten so far into the book. I kept hoping the author would turn it around and it would come together better. It didn’t. I just could not bring myself to actually care what happened to the characters in the story. The cover says ‘He’ll enter at her own risk’–well, read at your own risk.

MY THOUGHTS:

I was so excited to finally get this from the library. I had been wanting to read this forever. I will admit, the cover is what captured my interest. I was instantly intrigued after reading the blurb on the book for this one. This was a plot completely different than what I would normally read.

Be prepared for a long read. This book is over 500 pages, but the format is largely spaced lines making it more like 250+ pages instead. I started out liking this book, but the further I read into this book, the more I started to get bored with it. Is there suppose to be a romance between Caspian and Abbey? At first I thought there was going to be, but as you go through the book, it is uncertain. Was there going to be a conclusion to the mysterious way her friend died? I couldn’t figure it out. It never explained what happened to her. The last couple chapters the author rushes to explain some things, but at the end I was still stumped and wondering what was the point in reading all these pages when the ending had so many loose ends. I hate to give spoilers, so I won’t go into detail on what was left unexplained.

I do hope the author plans on releasing the next novel quickly so we can get the ending we deserve to read. I understand she wrote this whole novel by hand, but that is no excuse for not finishing a story. Even books that are a part of a series have some sort of closure at the end of each book.

MY THOUGHTS:

Frustrated. That is the only word that comes to mind when reading this book. This was suppose to be a book centered around Darkyn Thierry. I would give an estimate of about maybe 1/3 of it being about Thierry. The rest was about the priests (again), the Keller’s (again), and hardly any romance at all. I am starting to get the feeling that there is not going to be much romance in this series, and more of a dark series instead. The author seemed like she was trying to include many stories into one book. I don’t understand why she couldn’t just pick one or two plots and just stick with that. I felt like I was reading too many novels instead of just one.

On the other hand, I am still enjoying Alex in this book. I am loving her witty mouth and her Kiss-My-Ass attitude towards people that get on her bad side. I love it when author’s can capture the witty humor in storyline’s that you least expect it. So I will continue with the series, even if it is just to hear what comes out of Alex’s mouth next.
