One Lucky Vampire
Series: Argeneau #19
Author: Lynsay Sands

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

Luck be a vampire tonight . . .

When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen—and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all.

. . . and every night

Who wouldn’t want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire? Jake, for one. He’s barely had time to adjust to his new state before he’s roped into a family favor. Still, secretly playing bodyguard to sweet, sexy Nicole is turning out to be the wildest ride of his life. First he’ll put a stop to whoever’s targeting her. Then he’ll prove that this kind of love, and luck, happens only once in an eternity.

MY THOUGHTS

When it comes to author Lynsay Sands, I am a sucker for the story!  I absolutely adore her writing, characters and plot lines.  You would think after 19 books in a series I would grow bored with it.  Sadly, it just makes me crave more from her!

With One Lucky Vampire we get to read about Jake Colson and Nicole Phillips.  Jake you might remember as Stephano Notte from A Bite To Remember.  He was turned by Vincent in that book in order to save his life.  To say that he isn’t happy with being turned is an understatement. While he is glad to be alive, he did end up leaving his family behind to try and adjust on his own and in his own way.  When Marguerite asks Jake to help protect a friend of the family, Jake is nudged back into the family unit and accepts the job as a housekeeper/cook while actually being a bodyguard for Nicole.

Nicole has been through the ringer. Her previous husband was  guy who would rather spend her money than spend time with his wife.  He has made attempts on her life trying to get her money instead of losing it in a divorce.  She hires Jake as a housekeeper/cook to help her out while she finishes up her work in the art world.

With everything that takes place in this book between Jake and Nicole, I found the side characters of Dante and Tomasso to be my favorite.  They had some of the best lines in this book that left me laughing each time they opened their mouths!

“Nina’s gone,” Tomasso rumbled.

“What?” Nicole glanced around with amazement at that.  The woman had been standing guard over Jake like a German drill sergeant since arriving.   She hadn’t even allowed Nicole to peek into his room just to see for herself that Jake was alive and well.  “Then who’s watching over Jake?”

“Pinocchio doesn’t need watching.  He’s not sick anymore,” Dante informed her.

“Yeah, he’s walking and talking like a real boy now,” Tomasso added dryly.

…..”Right, so he was on his death bed the day before yesterday and now he’s up and moving around?”  She shook her head. “What if he passes out or just falls down and hist his head?”

“IT’s okay, it couldn’t hurt anything,” Tomasso assured her.

“Of course it could,” she snapped.  “People have been known to die from head wounds.”

“People have,” Dante agreed.  “But not Pinocchio.  His head is full of wood.”

I loved how they always called him Pinocchio in the story.  There is a reason why they call him this and it is one of the main reasons why Jake was unhappy about being turned and why he ran from his family.  Even with the jokes they throw Jake’s way, Dante and Tomasso truly love Jake and would love to have him back into the family fold.  I love how they end up having Nicole be the one person who saves Jake instead of the other way around.

If you are a fan of the Argeneau series, then this book should be a must buy book for you.  It brings back the feel of earlier books but also keeps it progressing for the entire series.  Keep them coming!

MY THOUGHTS

The Lady Is A Vamp by Lynsay Sands is the 17th book in the Argeneau Vampire series.  I have been a fan of author Lynsay Sands for a long time now.  I have loved her books, gushed about the books, and even interviewed the author and characters on the blog.  When the newest book in the series arrived in my mailbox, I mowed everyone down that stood in my way to the reading chair and settled in for a few hours to devour the story.

Paul Jones is on a mission to save his daughter.  She is dying of a brain tumor that is inoperable, and he is needing someone of the Immortal variety to save her.  After working for Argeneau Enterprise for quite some time,  he already knows about the secrecy and danger of what could happen.  After he finds himself drawn to the exotic Jeanne Louise, he decides that he needs to kidnap her and convince her to turn his daughter to save her.  He plans it out and makes his daring kidnapping using a tranquilizer that he has been working on for the Enforcer Group. After kidnapping Jeanne Louise, he brings her to his house and chains her up in his office.

Jeanne Louise wakes to discover that she is having a hard time reading Paul.  She blames it on the tranquilizer and tries to figure out why she has been kidnapped.  While Paul doesn’t treat her like a prisoner, she still realizes that she could still be in danger from him.  When Jeanne Louise finally figures out that she can’t read Paul because he is her lifemate, she tries to figure out a way to make him fall for her and accept her as a wife instead of a tool to use for his daughters salvation.  She grows to love Pauls daughter as her own and wants to save her, but she can only turn one person in a lifetime.  She wants that person to be her lifemate as well.

Oh Ms.Sands loves to pull at the heartstrings.  I was already sniffling by chapter two and by chapter four I had tears in my eyes.  Paul’s daughter is so sweet and innocent and you can’t help but wonder how this story is going to end.  As the two become closer and realize there is chemistry between them, the decision of who to turn is decided by an unlikely person.  This is where I was ready to blow up at the author because she brings in Bricker and he is one of my favorite characters.  Seriously, I have begged the author to include me as Bricker’s lifemate when his story comes around, but I think she has me blocked now from all of the begging.  Anyway, Bricker feels horrible about the turn of events, and Lucien is forced to make some hard decisions for everyone involved.

What I loved the most about this installment though was how the author brought the story back to its roots from the beginning.  Previous characters were involved in the story, the tender romance with witty humor was present, and the story flowed beautifully.  I felt like this story was one of the best books in this series since the earlier ones.  I really enjoyed it and it brought back that reading addiction that Ms. Sands can create with just one story.  I really want to go back and start reading the whole series now just to keep my Argeneau fix going!

Another great book to add to your collection and one that will pull at your heart with emotions of love, sadness, and happily ever afters.

SUMMARY:

Has this immortal finally met her match?

Rogue hunter Drina Argenis (from the Spanish side of the Argeneau family) has been many things in her years as an immortal, but bodyguard/babysitter to a teenage vampire is something new. There’s an incentive, however: the other vampsitter, Harper Stoyan, may be Drina’s life mate.

Trouble is, having just lost a life mate, Harper is resigned to being alone. He’s completely unprepared when sexy and unpredictable Drina bursts into his life to reignite his passions. Can Drina, with a little matchmaking help from their teen charge, tempt this reluctant vampire to take a chance?

Or will a dangerous, unseen renegade kill Drina and Harper’s one chance at happiness?

MY THOUGHTS:

Finally! Another Argeneau Novel to quench my thirst for a little while.  I am a HUGE fan of this author.  She knows I stalk her website and own every novel in the series including the ones with the original covers!  I have begged and pleaded for her to make me the life mate of Bricker in one of her books.  I have interviewed her several times on the blog and even hosted a reading challenge featuring her books.  So it is no surprise that when the publisher sent me this book for review, I moved it to the top of the pile to read first!

In the latest installment we get to meet Harper again.  He has been keeping a low profile since the death of his first “life mate” Jenny.  When Drina arrives to help watch over Stephanie, Harper finds himself attracted to her in a way he never felt with Jenny.  Together they work together in trying to not only keep Stephanie safe, but also discover the second chance at love that Harper didn’t expect.

While I enjoyed the story, this is not one of my favorite books in the series.  To be honest, Harper never really made an impact on me enough to be anxious for his story.  He was sweet and romantic, but he was just okay in the sex appeal department.  Drina had a hot streak in her that could put a Jalapeno pepper to shame! She is not one that is going to take Harper’s pity party lying down!  She is excited to have found a life mate and she intends to make sure Harper knows it as well! Even though they were a good fit together, I just couldn’t connect with their romance like I have done with the others.  I didn’t like the forced feel to it that the author brought this time around.

I did enjoy seeing familiar faces again though in this book.  We get to see Anders, Beau, Tiny and even Teddy again.  Lucien even makes an appearance and steals the small scene that he is in with his bossy, yet sexy, personality.  I love when an author brings back past characters and reminds us that they still have some story to tell long after their book is over.  The author also brings her usual witty and laugh out loud humor to the book that quickly made me a fan of her writing.

Overall, I felt this book to be a good book to pass the time with.  Not much happens story wise, but the characters were fun to read about.  Still a great book to read if you are a fan of the author and the series.  Not one to miss if you are looking to continue reading the Argeneau series.  Now, if you will excuse me, I really must go back to stalking the authors web page and emailing her about Brickers book which includes me as his life mate.

MY RATING:

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

SUMMARY:

This vampire has been alone for far too long . . .

As one of the most ancient in the Argeneau clan, Cale Valens has given up on finding a life mate. His friends and family, however, have not. In fact, they believe they’ve finally found his perfect match. Getting them together, however, requires one little white lie . . .

Alexandra Willan is in a panic. Her restaurant is due to open in two weeks, but her chef just walked out. Then a highly recommended replacement arrives, an impossibly handsome culinary genius who sends electric tingles racing through her body . . .

Except he can’t cook. In fact, Cale hasn’t eaten real food in two thousand years. Yet he’s determined to prove to Alex his prowess in the kitchen . . . and elsewhere. Because never has he hungered so for any mortal woman. And not just for a taste of her, but for the whole delicious feast!

MY THOUGHTS:

I am a HUGE fan of Lynsay Sands. She is an auto buy for me no matter what the story is about.  In the latest installment in the Argeneau series, we are introduced to Cale and Alex.

We have met Alex in previous books.  She is the sister to Jo and Sam Willan.  While those two have already found their life mates in previous books, I was waiting on pins and needles to see who the author would pair chef and restaurant owner Alex with.  While Cale is no Chef, the author made sure to fit Alex with him as a balance.  Cale is a business man and hasn’t cooked in over a thousand years if not more.  When he finds out that Alex is his life mate though, he does try to cook and woo her at the same time.

Alex hires Cale as her project/business manager since she would rather be head chef at her restaurant then handle the paperwork.  Cale is happy to oblige, and Alex finds their growing attraction hard to resist.  When they share some sexy dreams, Alex finds her wall of defense crumbling.

I must say that after certain scenes in the book, I will never look at a microwave again without laughing out loud!  While I loved the characters of Cale and Alex, my favorite had to be Bricker again for saving the day when Cale found himself messing something up.  Bricker trying to teach Cale how to use a microwave and how to cook was hilarious.  Ms. Sands never fails with the witty and fun writing that also has the sexy romance we crave.  She balances it perfectly and the writing is phenomenal!  While the story ended in a bit of a rush, I still was very satisfied with the book.  The author also explains things to where if this is the first book you pick up and read, everything is explained without having to read the prior books.

Another fantastic read that quenched my thirst for paranormal romance! Bravo Ms. Sands for another outstanding read in the series.
