MY THOUGHTS

I admit, I must be the last person in the world to read this series.  After seeing everyone rave about them, and even hosting the author on my blog, I decided to dive into the Love At Stake series by author Kerrelyn Sparks.

The first half of this book I thought was rather cliched.  While I found it funny at times, other times I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the story.  Not only was the dialogue cheesy, but so was the plot.  Then after I got past the first half of the story, it really started to pick up and really grab my interest.  I did like the authors writing style though and the side characters were ones I can’t wait to read about — especially those kilt wearing/sexy talking Highlanders!

While I am not completely sold on the series yet, this is definitely one that I am going to continue reading.  I am interested to know how the Vampire “Civil War” is going to play out now that there has been a dramatic change in hierarchy. With the fall of one and the partnership of another, you can’t help but wonder what side is going to win.  I also like the side story of the Stake-Out Division of the CIA and the impact they will have for future stories.

For an old time paranormal romance mood, this one fits the bill on the quirky side.  Not one to take seriously, but one that will definitely leave you smiling.

MY THOUGHTS

How do you write a review on a book that is so different that what you were expecting?  When I first saw the cover of this book, I thought I would be reading about a group of teens and adventure.  Then I read the back of the book and thought that it might be a lighter than the normal drama and angst with some adventure still.  Then when I started reading the book I found it was so much different than what I thought.

This book actually had me laughing out loud at times.  I loved the humor that the authors injected in the paranormal world created. With all of the paranormal books that are out there, it is refreshing to read something that pokes fun at it sometimes. What I loved is how this book is written to be one that you don’t take to heart.  I also loved the witty and comical dialogue of the characters.

If you are looking for a read that will lift your spirits and revive your interest in vampires and such, then I recommend getting a good laugh from this book.  It pokes fun at things, keeps you smiling, and gives you just a feel good feeling when you are in a funk from paranormal overload.

HOT! That is my take on this book. Cynthia Eden delivers again in the 3rd installment of her Midnight trilogy. The story and characters have you reading constantly and not wanting to put the book down for anything. This book spotlights the passion and suspense between Holly Storm and Niol Lapen. What do you get when a hot level ten demon has to work with nosy and persistent reporter Holly Storm? HOT!HOT!HOT! They are on the trail of a psycho demon killer that likes to steal OTHER organs. Others are the demons, vampires and other supernatural beings. This book also has the characters from the previous 2 books as supporting players in this suspense, nail biting case.
