MY THOUGHTS:
When this book arrived in the mail, I immediately started reading it.  The cover was so cute and the pictures and font were so cute and catching.  This is a very quick read. It took me less than 15 minutes to read it.  If you need a quick pick me up for the day, this is a perfect book for that.  Even if you use just one tip a day, your self esteem could even go up a notch.  I loved the tips and some cost a little money, but most are free and all are easy.  Perfect for a gift!  This would even be cute for a girl going off to college as a gift.

LORD OF MISRULE (Morganville Vampires-Book 5)
Author: Rachel Caine
Source: Library
  • Reading level: Young Adult
  • Mass Market Paperback: 256 pages
  • Publisher: Signet (January 6, 2009)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0451225724
  • ISBN-13: 978-0451225726
SYNOPSIS:
In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, the master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn’t the only threat.

Violent black cyclone clouds hover, promising a storm of devastating proportions as student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against elements both natural and unnatural.

MY THOUGHTS:
This is the 5th book in the series of the Morganville Vampires.  Even though I love this series, this is not one of my favorites.  It seemed like a filler book to me.  While the characters were interesting, the writing was excellent, and the book was fast paced, it lacked in the plot.  The 4th book left us with a cliffhanger of a giant war happening in the 5th book.  To me, there wasn’t much war. Mainly, all the characters running around trying to regroup and start a plan of attack.  Then at the end of the book, the war happens briefly, and we are left with another cliffhanger that will throw you for a loop.  I will say though, that I love the character of Myrnin.  He is starting to really grow on me and show his own personality.  Not bad for a book that sets us up for major change in the next one. I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

It was a dark and stormy night….
Bob Hill and his new wife Betty were vacationing in Europe… as it happens, near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a ratherdeserted highway.  It was late and raining very hard. Bob could barely see the road in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree.

Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks  over at the passenger seat and sees his wife unconscious, with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to get her medical assistance. Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road.
After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is  coming from a large, old house. He approaches the door and knocks.  A minute passes.  A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, “Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife Betty. We’ve been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone?”
“I’m sorry,” replied the hunchback, “but we don’t have a phone. My  master is a doctor; come in and I will get him!”
 Bob brings his wife in.

An older man comes down the stairs. “I’m afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had a basic medical training. I will seewhat I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory.”

With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries, so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table.

After a brief examination, Igor’s master looks worried.  “Things are serious Igor. Prepare a transfusion.” Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more.

The Hills’ deaths upset Igor’s master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his grand piano. For it is here that  he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting melody fills the house.

Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. His eyes catch movement, and he notices the fingers on Betty’s hand twitch, keeping time to the haunting piano music. Stunned, he watches as Bob’s arm begins to rise, marking  the beat! He is further amazed as Betty and Bob both sit up straight!

Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory.

He bursts in and shouts to his master:

“Master, Master! ….. The Hills are alive with the sound of music!”
You knew it was coming! Thanks mom for the great laugh today!

SYNOPSIS:
The wait is over. dig into the feast…

In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though—especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town’s living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It’s only at a formal ball, attended by vampires and their human dates, that Claire realizes the elaborately evil trap he’s set for Morganville.

MY THOUGHTS:
Ms. Caine has done it again! She created a story that picks up where the previous book ended and it yanks you in and won’t let go!  This book was action packed and fast paced! I loved the plot and the writing was brilliant.  I know, you are all tired of hearing me say it, but I LOVE THIS SERIES!  This book however, should not be considered a stand alone book.  You might get lost easily if you haven’t read the previous books in the series.  The author also leaves you with an awesome cliffhanger, AGAIN, that will leave you craving the next book in the series.
Quote from the book:
“What will you sacrifice, Claire?” she asked. “To win?”
“It’s not a game,” Claire said.
Amelie inclined her head. “True. It is war. And now we have to fight for all of our lives.” -Claire and Amelie, “Feast of Fools
I will leave you with that as I bite my nails and start the next book!
