1. Tell us a little about your blog.
My blog is basically reviews; I run my own contests as well as run Book Junkie II with contests around the blogosphere. I have branched out with Author Interviews, guest authors who also run contests on my blog. More or less just a rambling of my thoughts on the latest book I just finished.

2. Why did you start your blog and what is your favorite thing about having a blog?

It was about a year ago that I started my blog, at first I just felt like I wanted to put my own thoughts and reviews down online. I didn’t know if anyone would follow and honestly not sure I cared because I was and still have this feeling deep down and no one wants to hear what I have to say, that no one will read it anyway so what the heck. Then I started skimming around and saw all the contests, well I was over the moon excited, free books! Get outta here! I was all over it, and the people I meet were so helpful and amazing I couldn’t be happier that I took that first step.
I would have to say my favorite thing is the interaction, authors, other bloggers, can’t beat it anywhere. You put a call out for help with someone and 10 people write you back instantly. Everyone is so kind and I love how everyone is just so excited about books! It’s my happy place.
3. A few faves:

Author- Keta Diablo, Shiela Stewart, Shelli Stevens

4. If you could be any character from any book, who would you be and why?
Wow, that is a toughie, I would have to say Holly Bardwell from Colter’s Woman, if you know anything about this book you know why! OR Marissa, Butch’s mate from J.R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood book 4 Lover Revealed, strong in her own right, a vampire and has the love of my favorite cop turned vamp Butch! Just delicious!

5. What book are you currently reading?
I am reading 2 actually, The Sin Eater’s Prince by Keta Diablo and also Wicked Proposal by Tierney O’Malley

6. Name a few of your favorite blogs.
Hum, I don’t know if I could name one, I have to many that are on my top. But I will tell you some new one’s I found that I really like :

Cari Quinn, Girl Writer
Library Lounge Lizard

7. Any advice for new bloggers?
Hang in there, I remember every moment when I saw, OMG, I have 3 followers, OMG I have 9 followers. Your followers will come don’t fret, just keep up your great reviews and they will come, run a few contests, even one book small ones, write authors and start your communication with them, even if it is just to tell them how much you love their book. Don’t get carried away, it can be overwhelming at times, but have fun because books is what we all love, no matter the genre we all share the passion and the are so many wonderful bloggers out there who will help you when you need it.

Thanks for joinging us Brande! Be sure to check out her blog!

Midnight Alley (Morganville Vampires, Book 3
Author: Rachel Caine
Source: Library
  • Reading level: Young Adult
  • Mass Market Paperback: 256 pages
  • Publisher: NAL Jam (October 2, 2007)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0451222385
  • ISBN-13: 978-0451222381
SYNOPSIS:
Claire Danvers’s college town may be run by vampires but a truce between the living and the dead made things relatively safe. For a while. Now people are turning up dead, a psycho is stalking her, and an ancient bloodsucker has proposed private mentoring. To what end, Claire will find out. And it’s giving night school a whole new meaning.

MY THOUGHTS:
This is the third book in the Morganville Series. It is for young adults, but adults will enjoy it as well. I know I did.  In this book Claire becomes the apprentice to a very old vampire named Myrnin who is a great scholar and scientist.  She is trying to find a cure for the vampires even though she is a human.
We still get our dose of the Glass House foursome and get to know some more of the previous people from the first two books.  Even Claire’s parents make an appearance again.  This series is just getting better and better!  I do wish the relationship between Claire and Shane would move forward a bit more, but it is a young adult book.  That is the only frustrating part about all of it.  Another one of Rachel Caine’s books that I finished within 2 hours.  I am so ready for the next one!
MY THOUGHTS:

Outstanding Book That Will Stay On My Bookshelf

The Dead Girls’ Dance (Morganville Vampires, Book 2)
Author: Rachel Caine
Source: Library
  • Reading level: Young Adult
  • Mass Market Paperback: 256 pages
  • Publisher: NAL Jam; 1st Printing edition (April 3, 2007)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0451220897
  • ISBN-13: 978-0451220899
SYNOPSIS:
Claire has her share of challenges. Like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains; homicidal girls in her dorm, and finding out that her college town is overrun with the living dead. On the up side, she has a new boyfriend with a vampire-hunting dad. But when a local fraternity throws the Dead Girls’ Dance, hell is really going to break loose.

MY THOUGHTS:

OMG!!! I am so loving this series! This is the second in the Morganville Vampire series and it was just as good as the first, if not better.  I LOVE the characters of Shane, Claire, Michael and Eve. I LOVE the plots and writing. I LOVE the suspense and the author for creating it. BUT..I..DO…NOT…LIKE…CLIFF..HANGERS!!!!!!
I will admit that this ending wasn’t as bad of a cliffhanger as the first one, so I didn’t throw my book against the wall or call my library several times a day to see if they had the next book in yet.  I finished this book in less than 3 hours and went straight to the next one and finished it within 2 hours.  If they continue to be just as good as the ones I have already read, then I will probably have this series completed before Monday!
I don’t want to give any plot hints away in this review because if you haven’t read the first one, then it will not make much sense.  All I can say is GO READ IT NOW!  I so want to own this series. I have not been so caught up in a series like this since Twilight. (yep, I am one of those Twilighters, so there) Of course, now I am one of those ones who want to move to the Glass House!

THE SLEEP LADY’S GOOD NIGHT. SLEEP TIGHT
Author: Kim West, LCSW-C with Joanne Kenen
Source: FSB Media
* I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review*
  • Paperback: 440 pages
  • Publisher: Vanguard Press; Upd Exp edition (December 22, 2009)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 1593155581
  • ISBN-13: 978-1593155582
SYNOPSIS:
Kim West, The Sleep Lady® and nationally respected child and sleep expert, has brought peaceful slumber to many parents and children with her well-thumbed book, Good Night, Sleep Tight. In it West introduced a gentle and effective approach to putting babies and children to sleep that includes her signature step-by-step “Sleep Lady Shuffle.”

Now, in this revised edition, Kim West expands and completely updates her book. The Sleep Lady®’s Good Night, Sleep Tight deals with one of the most challenging aspects of parenting — getting young children, from newborn to five years old, to sleep. West offers a practical, easy-to-follow, and flexible approach to sleep that is gentle on both parent and child and doesn’t require leaving your child alone to cry.

This updated edition offers advice on everything from how to guide young babies into good sleep rhythms and coping with “routine busters” like travel and teething, to moving your child from a crib to a bed, and sleep tips for twins and siblings. It also includes the latest research on sleep safety, deciphering newborn cries, and pacifier use, with expanded sections on breastfeeding, room sharing vs. co-sleeping, postpartum depression, baby and toddler yoga, phasing out nighttime feedings, and much more.

Whether you want to gently shape your newborn’s sleep habits or you need to address specific sleep problems in your child, The Sleep Lady®’s Good Night, Sleep Tight will give you the answers you need.

MY THOUGHTS:
This book offers some insight on things that most parents find out on their own.  If ou are a first time mom though, then this book is very helpful.  It explains ways to help children from an early age and on up to sleep through the night and have a refreshing start the next morning!  If only this book would have been available to me before my children grew up and had bad habits already.
You will also get to read little clips from the Sleep Lady that offers helpful tips.  Some tips are common sense, but some also help first time mom’s with questions who have no one to turn to. This would be a perfect gift for soon-to-be moms or even the mom with many children.
