SYNOPSIS:
A chilling chronicle of the often ignored history of vampirism as it has surfaced repeatedly in news articles, historical accounts, and first person interviews, this shocking account of occultist rituals and the inhuman forces that influence them shines a light on the horrifying truth. Revealing that real vampires are not immortal, do not have fangs or sleep in coffins, and have no fear of sunlight or crucifixes, the examination dispels many myths but also confirms the truth behind several traits of real vampires, such as the insatiable thirst for blood and the dream of an eternal soul. Complete with 30 spine-tingling tales of the hideous wraiths and creatures that lurk in shadow, this fascinating collection includes the stories of the Mexican prostitute who mesmerized an entire village, convincing them she was an Incan goddess who required human sacrifice for her magic; the three teenagers who left a trail across the South as they conducted blood-drinking rituals with animals; and the mysterious Lady in Black who draws psychic energy from men who dare approach her as she wanders through city streets and parks.

MY TAKE:

This book was an interesting read, especially if this sort of genre interests you. It has a ton of great stories including the tale of Vlad the Impaler, Jack the Ripper and Jeffrey Dahmer to everyday people who have claimed to have encountered them. A dark and sinister read with great photos that are included with almost every story. I learned some things that were new to me and I also got a great history lesson in the process. It even includes a chronological timeline of Vampires in history. Great for even the collectors of the paranormal genre.

SYNOPSIS:
Q: HOW MANY ZOMBIES DOES IT TAKE TO RUIN A SOCIAL LIFE?
A: NOT MANY.

Megan Berry is a Zombie Settler by birth, which means she’s part-time shrink to a whole bunch of semi-dead people with killer issues. All Megan really wants is to go to homecoming, but when you’re trailed by a bunch of slobbering corpses whenever you leave the house, it’s kinda hard to score a date. Let’s just say Megan’s love life could use some major resuscitation.

Megan’s convinced her life can’t get any worse – until someone in school starts using black magic to turn average, angsty Undead into scary, hardcore flesh-eating Zombies. Now it’s up to Megan to stop the Zombie apocalypse. Her life – and more importantly, the homecoming dance – depends on it.

MY TAKE:

I decided to venture out of my usual paranormal realm of vampires. *GASP* I know, scary huh! I decided to read about zombies this time. I had heard so much about this book that I just knew I had to read it!

To me, the heroine Megan, was so wrapped up into boys, school parties, and herself that I kept forgetting that she is also a Settler who returns zombies back to their grave. Yes, I considered her very shallow. Ethan, the hero I guess you would call him, was the saving grace of this book. He turned her around near the end and made her realize that life is more than who is elected homecoming queen. Near the end she still has some shallow qualities, but she seems to grow up a little. With that being said, the book still had me interested from start to finish. There was alot of action, witty remarks and fun. Will I read the next in the series? Of course! This was still a delightful read even though I wanted to roll my eyes at Megan’s selfish nature. There were still LOL moments that redeemed the book. I also can’t wait to see what happens with Megan and Ethan’s relationship in the next book.
