MY THOUGHTS

Can we just take a moment to drool over this amazing and sexy cover? I’ll wait.
Did we get the drool wiped up? Okay, let us proceed.

I love, LOVE, love this author and her writing. There is just something about the way she can create a scene that captures me.  One word can sum up this series for me: ADDICTIVE.  Trust me when I say that when you start with the first book in this series, you will be snatching up the currently released books in this series just to keep getting your fix.

Gryphon, how I loved you in this book.  Sexy, outcast, moody, and did I mention sexy? Yes I did because he is. Maelea was also a wonderful character who was perfectly fit to be with Gryphon. Suspense, drama, action and touching scenes will all be included in this package of a book.  What are you waiting for? Start the series and let the reading begin!

MY RATING

Outstanding book that will stay on my bookshelf for rereading!

Untamed
Series: The Amoveo Legend #3
Author: Sara Humphreys
Genre: Paranormal Romance

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

The Amoveo are an ancient race who’ve lived secretly among humans for thousands of years. They are beautiful and incredibly strong but their race is extremely fragile–each has until the age of 30 to find their soul mate, before their bodies start to die a slow, painful death.

Layla Nickelsen has spent her life running from a mate she didn’t choose, until William Fleury finally confronts her. Normally stoic and unemotional, William finds himself befuddled by Layla: his growing feelings for her and his driving need to protect her. And Layla has to admit that William might be everything she’s always wanted after all…

MY THOUGHTS

Untamed by Sara Humphreys is the third book in the Amoveo Legend series.  This book picks up where the previous book left off, so it is best to have read the other books in the series first to get the full impact of the plot.  It could be read as a stand alone novel, but again if you want the full scope of the world created, I would recommend reading the first two books in the series.

With this latest installment in the series, I can see the world the author created with great imagery and details.  The characters are developed and enjoyable as well.  I was finished reading this story before I even knew it. I didn’t really want it to stop and I wanted to read more about them. It was unique and and enjoyable for my reading time.

Again to get the full effect of the paranormal world and recurring characters, I would definitely read the first two books in the series. A great author that I will continue to follow for future books!

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

A Place Beyond Courage
Series: William Marshal #1
Author: Elizabeth Chadwick
Genre: Historical Romance

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

The early twelfth century is a time for ambitious men to prosper, and royal servant John FitzGilbert is one of them. But when the old king dies and his successor is appointed, John faces a terrible choice: he must join the rival faction-his enemies- or risk losing everything. His new wife helps him carry his burden, but his final choice will seal not only her fate, but those of his young children.

As the fight for England’s crown enters a new phase, John may be forced to make a terrible sacrifice…

MY THOUGHTS

When I first started reading this book, I had no idea what to expect.  Others loved it and raved about it, but I was worried it wouldn’t be one I would enjoy.  Sadly, I was right in my feelings.  While I won’t say it was horrible, it wasn’t my cup of tea.

The writing was actually pretty good.  It had great building of imagery and the balance between dialogue and narration was done well.  I just couldn’t bring myself to really enjoy the characters or just enjoy the plot.  There wasn’t a spark of interest for me that everyone else seemed to have.  This is my first read by this author — and people have said it is a prequel of sorts to one titled The Greatest Knight — so maybe her other works would be better.

Again, I can’t say the exact reason why it didn’t click with me.  Maybe it is because Historical reads are a genre that I am very picky with.  Sad to say that this one didn’t work for me, but I am hoping the authors other works will be better for me in the future.

MY RATING

If the library doesn’t have it, don’t worry about reading it!

Nailed
Author: Jennifer Laurens
Genre: Young Adult

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

One girl. Two guys. Who says three’s a crowd? When Mandy takes an unusual summer job-in construction-she has to prove she’s just one of the guys. But she gets more than she bargains for being the only girl on the job. The mixture of hot guys, sunscreen, raw wood and testosterone proves to be an elixir she can’t protect her heart from. Brooding Boston and flirty AJ find themselves looking at Mandy as more than just a girl who holds a hammer. Mandy soon finds herself not only lost in a whirlwind of a male-dominated world, but also the center of an inadvertently “constructed” love triangle. Mandy must choose between two guys who want her heart. But what’s a girl to do when she wants them both?

MY THOUGHTS

Usually I am a big fan of author Jennifer Laurens.  I had been wanting to read this one for a while now and never really got around to it.  When it was offered up free on Amazon for the Kindle, I snatched it up and it got shuffled in my list.  Finally, I was sorting through them and came across it and decided to dive in.

I am a sucker for a love triangle.  I guess this would be considered New Adult in the genre realm now as Mandy is 19, just out of high school and working with her brother.  All of the main characters are around the same age except for A.J. who happens to be 27.  Mandy finds herself falling for A.J. and Charlie, AKA Boston, while having to work on a house building project headed by her brother Marc.

First, that cover I think is the reason I forgot about it.  It just doesn’t scream ‘read me’, although I did notice on Amazon that the print version has a different cover.  Second, A.J reminded me of a creepy guy who preys on young girls.  He calls Mandy ‘baby doll’ almost every time he addresses her and is constantly giving her a full teeth smile.  Then we have Larry, the fourth guy in the crew, who is basically a man slut. He is a player to the extreme level.  Marc, Mandy’s brother, should never be in charge of anything because he can’t even keep his mind out of the gutter while his sister is standing right there.  Then we have Charlie, who Mandy nicknames Boston. I never could really grow to like him.  He came across stuck up and standoffish.  Lastly we have Mandy.  She was just as boring and dull as Boston so I could see the appeal of the author using them together as part of the triangle.  She was indecisive, snobby, and has no clue whatsoever. After all those characters we have a best friend for Mandy who is basically just there to buy his romance books in the bookstore and to fill page time.

Definitely not one of the authors better books and one I would not read again.

I did not like this book at all!

Where There’s A Will
Series: Good Girl #2
Author: Karen Kelley
Genre: Paranormal Romance

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

When good girl Haley Tillman is stood up (again), she prays for a dating miracle— and then slams the front door in its face when it appears! Ryder is half angel, half mortal, with powers to do whatever the hell he wants. When he hears Haley’s prayers, he is bound and determined to answer every single one of them.

MY THOUGHTS

Where There’s A Will is the second book in the Good Girl series by author Karen Kelley.  What girl hasn’t wished for the perfect man?  When Haley wishes for a man, she gets a half angel with sexiness in spades.  Ryder is determined to act out Haley’s fantasies and show her how beautiful she is.

I have to say that this book caught me by surprise.  I didn’t think it was going to be so great because everyone kept saying that Haley considers herself fat, ugly and unappealing.  Women deal with this every day in real life, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to read about it.  Granted, I am tired of the perfect size 0 women in romance, but why did she have to feel that average was a bad thing to start with?  Ryder was some hubba-hubba with some ooh-la-la thrown in.  He was every bit as sexy as the cover model on the front of this book.

The writing was good and I really didn’t have any more problems with this book.  It wasn’t blow me away great, but it was definitely one to keep you warm on a cold night of reading.  Even though this is part of series, I considered it to be okay as a stand alone read as well.  This is one series that I will continue reading and enjoying.

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!
